Easy Send Frequently Asked Questions

What is Easy Send?
Easy Send is an account that lets you transfer money to loved ones for free.

How long will the FREE money transfer promotion last?
This is not a promotional offer.  Easy Send is a revolutionary product that allows you to transfer money to loved ones for free, as long as you have an Easy Send account.

How does Easy Send work?
You must open both a qualified checking account and an Easy Send account. Qualified checking accounts include Plus Checking, Interest Checking, Employee Plus Checking and Easy Send Checking. With an Easy Send account, you'll receive an HSBC ATM card for your authorized user (e.g. loved one) in 7 to 10 business days once the account is opened. When your loved one receives the HSBC ATM card and is notified of the Personal Identification Number (PIN), you must call the Bank at 1-800-811-0020 to activate the card. Once the card is activated, your loved one can access money in the Easy Send account at any of the HSBC ATMs and CIRRUS® ATMs locations worldwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Is there a charge/fee on the Easy Send account?
No.  The Easy Send account is a no-fee, non-interest bearing account with no minimum balance.

Is there a minimum balance requirement or monthly fee on the checking account?
Yes, there is a minimum balance requirement and/or monthly fee. Please see the Terms and Charges.

How do I make the transfer?
You can make the transfer from your qualified checking account to the Easy Send account by calling 1-800-975-HSBC (English), 1-800-433-HSBC (Spanish) or 1-800-711-8001 (Cantonese/Mandarin) or log onto Personal Internet Banking at us.hsbc.com, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You don't have to leave your house anymore to make the transfer. No more waiting in line. No more wire-transfer fee.

Will there be an issue withdrawing money from an Easy Send account at ATMs in other countries?
No. Withdrawals can be made at ATMs abroad, providing there are sufficient funds in the account.

Are there fees to withdraw money at the HSBC ATMs overseas?
Withdrawals at HSBC ATMs are free. There is a $1.50 charge for withdrawals at non-HSBC ATMs and these transactions are subject to any surcharges imposed by the institution that operates the ATM. Withdrawals made in currency other than U.S. Dollars are subject to a currency conversion rate. Refer to the EFT Facility Charges disclosure.

What should I do if the card is lost or stolen?
If the card is lost or stolen, call 1-800-975-HSBC.

I have an Easy Send account for my mother. I also want to have one for my brother. What should I do?
You can open as many Easy Send accounts as you like.  Each Easy Send account will be issued one (1) ATM card for an authorized user. If you want to set-up Easy Send for multiple family members, all you have to do is to open multiple Easy Send accounts.

I transferred money from my checking account to the Easy Send account yesterday.  Now I want to move the money out of the Easy Send account and back into my checking account. What should I do?
There are two convenient ways to move the money out of the Easy Send account and back into your checking account - either by calling our toll free number at 1-800-975-HSBC and pressing 1 to proceed forward to the transfer service, or by logging onto HSBC Personal Internet Banking.
