Moving to the United States
HSBC offers banking and financial relocation services
If you're moving to the United States, your HSBC relationship will give you access to a wide range of banking services that can help make the transition simpler and less stressful. Many of these services are complimentary for HSBC Premier clients.1
Setting up your finances in the U.S.
If you're moving to the United States, we can help you to sort out your finances. Your HSBC relationship will give you access to the International Banking Center and global financial relocation services, including:
- An international needs review. So you can ensure your banking needs will be met.
- U.S.-based account opening. Your new bank accounts can be opened before you leave your country, subject to local terms and conditions.1
- Checkbooks, bank cards, credit cards and PINs. If you give us enough notice we can have these materials sent to you before you change countries.
- Credit history transfer. You can experience a seamless transfer of your HSBC credit history to other HSBC offices in countries that the HSBC Group currently does business in.
Managing your finances in the U.S.
After your U.S. move is complete, HSBC offers additional benefits that can help you to monitor your accounts:
- Global View. A convenient tool that lets you monitor your eligible worldwide HSBC accounts online with a single log on2
- Global Transfers. Transfer funds between your eligible international HSBC deposit accounts2
- International transfers of funds. Move your funds between your worldwide HSBC deposit accounts via telephone banking.
1 International account opening is not available in all countries. Non-Premier customers requesting to open an international banking account outside the U.S. and requiring assistance in the completion of all necessary paperwork from the International Banking Center in the U.S. or an HSBC branch in the U.S. will be charged a one-time fee of $200 USD. This fee is waived for HSBC Premier and Corporate Partner clients. HSBC Bank USA, N.A. Advance customers receive a 50% discount on this fee.

To qualify for an HSBC Premier relationship, you need to open an HSBC Premier checking account and maintain $100,000 in combined U.S. personal deposit and investment balances. Business owners may use their commercial balances to qualify for personal HSBC Premier relationship. A monthly maintenance fee of $50 will be incurred if minimum balance requirements are not maintained.
United States persons are subject to U.S. taxation on their worldwide income and may be subject to tax and other filing obligations with respect to their U.S. and non-U.S. accounts. U.S. persons should consult a tax adviser for more information.
HSBC Premier World MasterCard® credit cards are issued by HSBC Bank USA, N.A., subject to credit approval and require a U.S. HSBC Premier relationship. To learn more, speak with an HSBC Premier Relationship Manager.
