How do I Share the Experience?

1. To refer a friend, you must be an HSBC Premier, Advance, or Choice Checking customer. Learn more about our banking relationships.

2. Log-on to Personal Internet Banking to view your Share the Experience referral page and personalized referral code.

3. After you log-on to Personal Internet Banking, share your personalized referral code with friends by either:

  • providing them with your personalized referral code
  • printing the referral form, which contains your personalized code

4. When your friend opens their new qualifying Premier, Advance, or Choice Checking account during the offer period, they simply provide the banker with your personalized referral code at account opening. For you to receive credit for the referral, the new account can be opened only in an HSBC branch or over the phone and must remain open for 15 business days.

5. Your referral bonus will be deposited to your qualifying HSBC Premier, Advance, or Choice Checking account within 8 weeks of your friend's account opening. Refer to the Rules and Requirements below.

Rules and Requirements

1 To qualify for an HSBC Premier relationship, you need to open an HSBC Premier checking account and maintain $100,000 in combined U.S. personal deposit and investment balances. Business owners may use their commercial balances to qualify for a personal HSBC Premier relationship. A monthly maintenance fee of $50 will be incurred if minimum balance requirements are not maintained.

2 To qualify for an HSBC Advance relationship, you need to open an HSBC Advance checking account and maintain combined U.S. personal deposit and investment balances of at least $10,000 OR at least $5,000 with a recurring direct deposit from a third party to an HSBC Advance checking account at least once per monthly cycle. Business owners may use their HSBC commercial balances to qualify for a personal HSBC Advance relationship. A monthly maintenance fee of $25 will be incurred if minimum balance or minimum balance with direct deposit requirement is not met. Qualifying direct deposits are electronic deposits of regular periodic payments made into your qualifying checking account through third parties per the stated frequency.

3 Choice Checking relationship requires the maintenance of $1,500 in U.S. consumer deposit and investment balances or a recurring direct deposit from a third party to a Choice Checking account at least once per statement cycle to avoid a monthly maintenance fee of $15. Qualifying direct deposits are electronic deposits of regular periodic payments made into your qualifying checking account through third parties per the stated frequency.

HSBC Share The Experience Rules and Requirements: HSBC Personal Internet Banking is required to obtain the personalized referral code. To receive your referral bonus, you must have an HSBC Premier, HSBC Advance, or HSBC Choice Checking relationship in the United States and not be an HSBC employee. The individual you refer must not currently hold, nor have held in the past 365 days, a consumer account held by any member of the HSBC Group in the U.S.; and the individual you refer must provide your personalized referral code at account opening for you both to qualify to receive credit for the referral bonus. Your qualifying HSBC Premier, HSBC Advance, or HSBC Choice Checking account must be open and in good standing at time of referral bonus fulfillment. For both you and the individual you refer, the bonus deposit(s) to your qualifying HSBC Premier, HSBC Advance, or HSBC Choice Checking account will be reported on the applicable IRS form. You and the individual you refer will be responsible for any tax resulting from the referral bonus. Please consult your tax advisor if you have questions about the tax treatment of the referral bonus.

New Customer: Special Limited-Time Offer valid from May 1, 2017 through and including July 28, 2017; AND the new account must be fully funded by December 29, 2017 to receive the Special Limited-Time Offer. Refer to footnotes 1, 2, and 3 above for funding requirements. The individual you referred will receive a $500 referral bonus to their new qualifying HSBC Premier checking account, a $250 referral bonus to their new qualifying HSBC Advance checking account, or a $50 referral bonus to their new qualifying HSBC Choice Checking account within 8 weeks from the date their new account is fully funded. The qualifying new account must be opened only in a branch or over the phone. The individual you refer may receive a referral bonus only once and can use only one referral code at the time of account opening. Referral bonus is limited to one per household. Any prior 2017 Share the Experience referral bonus amount is final.

The Annual Percentage Yields (APYs) and balances which are accurate as of 05/27/2017 are: Premier checking 0.01% APY on balances of $5.00 or more and Advance checking 0.01% APY on balances of $5.00 or more but less than $1,000, .01% APY $1,000 or more but less than $3,000, .01% APY $3,000 or more but less than $10,000 and 0.01% APY $10,000 or more. APYs are variable and subject to change after opening. Charges and fees may reduce earnings.
