Welcome to the Luckiest Art Collection

We set out to find the luckiest shade of red, a color often associated with luck and prosperity.

Get to know our artists

Now we’d like to pass that luck into the hands of talented artists from the AAPI community and celebrate their talents. Watch the journey unfold as they use the luckiest shade of red, and learn more about the artists right here.

Brenda Chi

“As a child of immigrants, I’ve seen luck intertwined with love and hard work. I think my ancestry cultivated their own luck through their inner strength and perseverance.”

Erin Wallace

Erin is a first-generation Chinese American. Her printmaking background informs texture and layers; her colorful work balances simplicity and depth while remaining fun and approachable.

“I wanted to explore "growing your own luck" and infusing the idea of plants and flowers blooming with the energy of finding one's path and luck.”

- Erin Wallace, illustrator and artist from Seattle, Washington

Our journey to the Luckiest Red

Red is one of the symbolic elements of Lunar New Year believed to bring in good luck and ward off evil spirits. We worked with the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco1 and had them comb through their collection of 18,000 pieces of art, spanning hundreds of years, to uncover the most frequently used shade of red. See what was discovered.
